ALL WE HAVE TO DECIDE IS WHAT TO
DO WITH THE TIME THAT IS GIVEN TO US.
- G A N D A L F -
we hummed the lotr soundtrack and imagined ourselves as hobbits on a perilous journey, which, in my book, is a good use of pretty much any day. we squealed at every bison, prairie dog and wild horse sighting, and rejoiced that snakes, orks, trolls and smeagol were nowhere to be found. but mostly snakes. we stood, more often than not, with mouths gaped open, wholly in awe of the scenes before us. views like this just don't get old. our ears hurt from the cold wind and we felt soreness in our cheeks from grinning over little jokes (bison poop is funny you know) and in gratitude for the time given to travel near + far throughout this wonderful, magnificent world together. visiting the badlands with one of my favorite sidekicks, was most certainly a great use of a day in north dakota.
(dear abbey, thanks for trusting me to take you out to the wilderness alone. lets have another adventure soon.)
