F I A T

will you leave all behind
to follow that babe, 
swaddling in cloth, 
laying in a manger?


will you leave all behind 
to follow that man, 
scourged, disfigured 
and left to die on a cross?


will you leave all behind
to follow that host, 
the bread of angels, 
so tiny, white and pure?


will you leave all behind 
to follow in the same footsteps 
as the One who laid down first 
a foundation of humility 
before he rose to glory? 


will you leave all behind
 to unite yourself with the one 
who has purchased for us all that 
lay ahead in the eternal kingdom?


will you say yes, follow, and look only heavenward?
