WINTER'S SPLENDOR
"We no longer dare to believe in beauty and we make of it a mere
appearance in order the more easily to dispose of it. Our situation today
shows that beauty demands for itself at least as much courage and decision as
do truth and goodness, and she will not allow herself to be separated and
banned from her two sisters without taking them
along with herself in an act of mysterious vengeance."

Since reading a seven-volume work by Balthasar is impractical for most, I recommend instead Stratford Caldecott's Beauty for Truth's Sake. Or perhaps more practical still, a trip outside, even if only brief, to intimately witness creation in all it's splendor. What could be a lovelier way to celebrate a Monday?
It's been a while since I've read some good vB. Thanks for reminding me of him. :) Happy Monday. Also New Year. And Christmas. Happy everything.

It's been awhile since I caught up on blogs... and visiting your blog and the others by girls in college is happy, because there's so much peace and beauty, but sad too, because, well, college, and I know how difficult it is to post when you're busy with other things. But I miss you! Summer come soon. ;)
