IF YOU REMEMBER THE DIGNITY OF THE
GIVER, NO GIFT WILL SEEM SMALL OR MEAN,
FOR NOTHING CAN BE VALUELESS THAT IS
GIVEN BY THE MOST HIGH GOD.
THOMAS A KEMPIS
Do you ever take a step back to marvel at reality? To simply be in awe of your life which, though riddled with wounds, uncertainty and suffering, is still unceasingly beautiful and richly saturated with purpose? Do you ever stop, even if only for a minute or two, with eyes and heart wide open to recognize the wondrous gift that is your life?
I recommend that you do.
They say to take time to smell the roses, and I think there is much wisdom in that. Go ahead. Take a rest from the noise, and busyness. Ponder all that you've been given; every lovely thing and deep heartache. Notice the smallest gifts and open yourself up to discover more of them. Smell the roses. And then, for each of these things, give thanks.
